I discovered Iron Horse by accident, surfing around on iTunes. The idea of doing metal and hard rock songs bluegrass-style smacks of novelty, but Iron Horse sounds so sincere, and makes such good song choices, that it works. I bought "Unchained," and I've listened to it 500 times this week (not really, but a lot). Iron Horse succeeds because they aren't making a joke out of their cover songs, they're clearly covering songs they like, and doing a hell of a job with it. Of course it's crucial that their harmonies are sweet and spot-on, and their fretwork is pyrotechnic. Now, how's about updating that tour dates part of the website! I'd sure like to know if I have a chance to go see Iron Horse somewhere in Massachusetts!
